A licence must, be obtained for every copy of DicomObjects or XdsObjects prior to its use in a clinical environment, and the following charges currently apply to both DicomObjects and XdsObjects. Bulk discounts apply to both commercial developers and end-users.
All prices are subject to VAT where applicable (i.e. in the UK, and in the remainder of the EU to non-registered businesses). Apart from router licence, which are specific to DicomOnjects, the licenses categories are the same for both DicomObjects and XdsObjects.
Commercial Developer licence
- Free to use for commercial development purposes only.
- Used by internal developers for developing, designing and testing.
- Valid for 2 years and randomly pops up dialog box showing the remaining days before it expires.
Single workstation applications
- 300 UK Pounds per licence as the base price - discounts of up to 25% apply - please see below
- Applications controlled entirely by a single user, from the PC on which the toolkit is installed. e.g. image viewing applications, or modalities generating images.
- Doesn’t have an expiry date and it won’t show any licence dialog pop-ups.
Router and Gateway applications
- 500 UK pounds per licence - discounts of up to 25% apply - please see below
- Applications running unattended, and providing image routing and modification services, either to or from other application entities. e.g. an application that receives all images from a CT scanner and modifies them to suit local needs, before routing to a main archive.
- Doesn’t have an expiry date and it won’t show any licence dialog pop-ups.
Multi-access server applications
- 1500 UK Pounds per licence - discounts of up to 25% apply - please see below
- Applications providing services on-demand to remote applications. e.g. a DICOM archive, or DICOM to web gateway, DICOM Worklist or Printer Server, or XDS Document Regsitry or Repository.
- Doesn’t have an expiry date and it won’t show any licence dialog pop-ups.

Not all applications fit into any of these categories, but an agreed licensing model is nearly always found, so please ask. Custom licensing terms are subject to negotiation.
